Just after 8:30 am on Thursday two men talked their way into getting into a home at Mount Hope. The two men went to the Toyne Street near Market Street and knocked on the door of a house in the area.
San Diego police said a woman answered the door and the two men asked for a glass of water. When the woman turned her back on the men, they pushed her into the house and forced her to go further in. They told her and her husband to give them all the money they had. A 13-year-old was also present during the robbery.
The two suspects stole the husband’s wallet and cell phone. Police reported that the robbers also took the house phone so the couple was unable to call out for help.
One of the robbers stole the family’s 1999 Dodge Caravan and drove it away. The license plate of the vehicle is California plate number 6FNJ861. The minivan is white with tinted windows and has a dent in the right rear corner of the minivan.
Police said that the second suspect drove a cream-colored Infiniti sedan.
The family described the robbers as Latino. They said that one could be 20 to 30 years old, thin, short, black hair slicked back and a mustache. He wore a gray sweatshirt and blue pants that had what looked like a paint stain on it during the robbery.
The second suspect looks to be in his 30s with a medium build and shaved head. He wore a red sweater and gray hooded sweatshirt during the robbery.
